Welcome 2012 !

As I welcome the New Year and say goodbye to 2011, I take note of the hits and misses of the previous year. A wonderful achievement of last year was the 59 posts in my blog, a significant jump from the previous year— and a great motivator on blogsphere has been Shruti who has also started an Indian QuiltingGuild on Facebook.

Among tons of completed projects and gifts given with swaps shared, I had a set of projects that couldn’t be completed last year. However, there is one project which is closest to my heart and on which I have made significant progress over the past year— the grandmother’s flower garden made of handmade hexies. When I began the project, I thought I’d be able to complete just a few hexies and join them for a mug rug. But as the hexie flowers grew in number so did my hope of a larger project— a laptop sleve, a table top, a table cloth and gradually as the flowers inched towards 100 I started to believe that the bed cover/quilt top was actually possible.

As I herald a new year, I am proud to announce that the hexie count has reached 100 and I am starting the border hexies in white, hoping 2012 would see this as a completed project among several others.
