My owl basket

These are stressful times and quilting remains that one wonderful hobby that keeps me sane when all around are losing their minds to fear and anxiety. It calms the mind, builds focus and best of all, produces a finished product at the end of the day.

I learnt to make this cute owl basket in Rochana Jalan and Arti Sudhir’s workshop last weekend. We learnt to hand applique the owl and learnt a new stitch – the ladder stitch so the applique pieces could be layered and attached to the base without the stitches actually showing.

I have been bitten by the hand applique bug and this little owl has been claimed by my son as his pencil stand 🙂 Must practise a bit now to get some finesse in the forthcoming projects.
