Bella Solids

I was fortunate to test a few blocks for Quietplay on Instagram for her new series due for release by month end.

The word I tested was ‘QUILT’ and I love the way it turned out. I could never imagine that cursive writing was possible using paper piecing…what about all those curves! Butt Kristy has made it possible; the pattern is due for release by end of January.

Blocks 11 to 20:

This is the second tranche in the Tula Pink Sampler Quilt along which is hosted by @Gnomeangel on Instagram. I posted about the first 10 blocks here and my personal journey on how it all began for me.

Here are the next 10 blocks. I am glad that its running on schedule. I have to admit that Block 15 was the most challenging. I had planned to sew and post it in the evening, instead of the morning as per my normal schedule. After office, we had to step out for a long dinner with my husband’s cousin and by the time I realised that the day’s block was due it was 11.30pm. To top it, I was feeling terribly unwell. With only half an hour to spare, I rushed through the block from end to end. Lesson learnt, I need to Plan in advance and keep things ready! Dont want to be in the same situation again.

Happy to report that Lot2 is complete…8 more to go!

My lunch buddy, Arushi had a baby girl and I decided to make an ombre Pinwheel quilt for her little one.

The challenge was to finish it in a quick couple of days so we could go visit her and give the little one her gift.

The quick completion of the top motivated me to try some FMQ on the quilt…some pink satin FMQ on the borders and white satin across the quilt.

The quilt has now been gifted and hopefully the ‘lil one grown up to love it ๐Ÿ™‚

Quilt Size: 40″X60″
Fabric: Some bella solids and local Indian Poplin
Thread: Calypso satin in Pink and white
Quilt Name: Pink Ombre Pinwheel Quilt

Kristy from Quiet play has the most amazing paper piecing patterns. I was lucky enough to be a pattern tester for the new feather pattern.

Its beautiful and the small pieces that look so intimidating come together beautifully. I have tried looking for feather printed fabric but to no avail, hence will be using leaf fabric from Sunday Stash #44 along with this. The colour scheme also matches ๐Ÿ™‚

Maybe now for some more feathers in colorful rainbow tones! I feel so addicted ๐Ÿ™‚
Each side took me an hour to finish…lets see if I can make it move faster in the subsequent ones.

Shruti, From 13woodhouseroad had Bella Parade’2015 on her blog and tested out the thread combinations on her set of FQs. There were about 8 straight line stitches on each FQ. She was unable to unravel the stitches for lack of time and asked if I’d want the FQs. I jumped up with joy!! Which fabric loving girl ever says no to fabric, EVER…

Soon my house-help and I unraveled the stitches and one week down the line, I have a full FQ bundle of Bella solids ! yeah yeah ๐Ÿ™‚

This is how they looked originally with 8 straight line stitches across the breadth of the fabric…
