Yardage for quilt backing…

I am slowly starting to pick up prints for my quilt backing. While I like printed quilt backs and envied my Quilty friends make a few, I have never been able to muster the courage to make one myself! I would rather just stick to a plain white or some other solid.

But heres a Thumbs Up to stepping out of my comfort zone πŸ™‚ I picked up this fabric, a white background with small pink flowers to back a pink triangle quilt.

Here are two yards of fabric that my hubby brought back from Chennai a long time back. While one is a map print poplin cotton (with lettering in an East Asian language), the other one is kind of a holiday print canvas that reminds me of a rainforest.

Think it time to make my passport wallet and take a trip to an East Asian country.

Some cute vehicle print for kids. Totally love it…its perfectly quilt weight and would be a joy to sew with πŸ™‚
This promptly goes on to get added to the stash in the quilting fabric cupboard to be brought out when emergency strikes-those times when a baby quilt has to be produced overnight(well! almost overnight) and there is no time to make a pieced quilt. The print is bright and beautiful so no point cutting into it, unless its a fuzzy cut pattern and keeps the vehicles intact.

I ordered this from Prabha Mathew from Quiltaholics on Facebook. I am always happy with her professional packaging and timely service.

This is the last set of fabrics for the first half of the year. A lovely set of 3 Fat Quarters from Kausalya Pandit from The Turquoise Paisley.

Along with it, bought a traditional silver leaf stand for paan(beetle leaf had as a digestive post a heavy Indian meal). It was Kausalya’s idea to use this as a bobbin stand. Love this new acquisition.

Edit: Molli is away on work and hence linking it to Quilting Jetgirl, love her work and glad to see her fill in for Molli on Sunday Stash. Quilters batting for each other is so heart warming πŸ™‚

Buying new fabric is always fun, especially when you have a project in mind. These were bought a while back from my local fabric shop. I had been there to replenish some of my original solid shades but they weren’t available. That’s the thing, you get a variety of colours, textures and shades… but you just don’t get what you bought last time!
But no trip to the fabric store should go waste, so bought a few other solids each a metre or thereabouts ha ha ha
